How to troubleshoot “USB drive not found” issue?

Check if drive is powered on.
NoTouch™ NT3500: Ensure that all the connections are intact eg from NoTouch™ drive to power adapter and from power adapter to the electrical outlet.
NoTouch™ NT2500: The NT2500 is powered by the USB bus. To ensure that it is receiving sufficient power, test by connecting both ends of the Y-cable to two USB ports on your computer.
Check that the green Power LED on the NoTouch™ drive is lighted up.
Ensure that the USB cable is connected properly from the computer to the NoTouch™ drive.
If you are using a USB hub, temporarily disconnect it. Plug the NoTouch™ drive directly to the USB port of the computer.
If your drive is connected properly to your computer, it should appear under My Computer as additional drive called NT2500 or NT3500 (for NoTouch™ NT2500 and NT3500 respectively).

What is the proper way of disconnecting the external hard drive?

For Windows Users:
It is important not to move or disconnect the drive while it is operating, to prevent hardware damage or data loss. To disconnect the USB drive safely from your PC, please follow the steps below:
Double-click the Safely Remove Hardware icon in the system tray at the bottom of the desktop. The Safely Remove Hardware window opens.
Double-click USB Mass Storage Device. This name may appear differently for some PCs.
Select your device, and then click OK. A Safe to Remove Hardware message appears in the System tray at the bottom of your desktop letting you know that the device is safe to disconnect.
Click Stop, and then click Close.
Disconnect the drive from the PC.
For Mac Users:
To disconnect the USB drive safely from your Mac, please dismount the drive by dragging the drive icon to the Trash Can. Once the drive is dismounted, you can disconnect the USB cable. Note: Mac OS users should always dismount the drive before shutting down their computer.

I have problems copying files larger than 4GB. What is the cause?

The NoTouch™ external drives are pre-formatted with FAT32 file system which offers greater degree of compatibility with Mac as well as older Windows computers. However the FAT32 file system has a limitation of 4GB file size. Usually the user will encounter error messages eg “Disk is full” when attempting to copy files larger than 4GB, even though there is sufficient space in the hard disk. In order to overcome this limitation of 4GB file size, you may reformat your drive to NTFS, if you are using Windows 2000, XP or Vista. See the FAQ on how to reformat your hard drive to NTFS.
